VITALBASE, LONG-LASTING ORGANIC SOIL IMPROVER | Olmix

VITALBASE Long-lasting organic soil improver

The organic matter in Vitalbase serves as a source of energy and nutrition for micro-organisms in the soil. Vitalbase ensures a diverse soil life that contributes to balanced and healthy grass growth, enhanced soil fertility and protection of the turf against pathogens.

The situation

Construction and renovation of turf

Constructing or renovating turf soil creates a basis for a good draining playing surface. However, very little consideration is given to the fact that turf builds up organic matter, such as old roots, which are difficult to digest.

The challenge

Preventing thatch build-up

To prevent thatch build-up, a healthy and active bacterial soil life is required. Bacteria feed on easily digestible organic matter to start with. Once they reach sufficient numbers, they drive thatch digestion and compete with fungi in the digestion of organic matter. This results in reduced fungal disease.

The solution

Bacterial soil food

Vitalbase consists of 100% natural organic material from laying hens from carefully selected farms in the Netherlands. The organic matter in Vitalbase serves as a source of energy and nutrition for bacteria in the soil with the ultimate goal of stimulating soil life to break down thatch and stable organic matter. Vitalbase ensures a diverse soil life that contributes to balanced and healthy grass growth, enhanced soil fertility and protection of the turf against pathogens.

Benefits

VITALBASE, NPK 4-3-2+1MgO+9CaO+67OM

  • 1

    Stimulates bacterial soil life

  • 2

    Provides natural nutrients

  • 3

    Prevents thatch build-up

Boosting germination

The combination of Stor-it and Vitalbase promotes the very rapid germination of the turf seeds, resulting in a dense turf within a month of germination. This is possible because of the constant availability of moisture and oxygen while bacterial soil life creates a permanent health buffer.

Directions for use

Use Vitalbase organic soil improvers for sports fields, fairways, tees and roughs, but also in parks and cemeteries. Vitalbase is ideal wherever the conversion of organic matter in the soil should be encouraged. Vitalbase is also suitable for organic matter on sandy soils to build structure in the soil. Vitalbase can be used from late winter until autumn, as long as the soil temperature is higher than 9°C.
