PRESS INVITATION ! OLMIX AND GAMIN-OCEAN, SAILING THE SEAS TOGETHER FOR BRITTANY!

The specialist in blue technologies and the famous trimaran have signed a two-year partneship.

Olmix Group, an expert in blue biotechnologies and a major player in the algae industry, has signed a two-year partnership agreement with „Gamin-Ocean” association and Pierre ANTOINE, skipper of „Gamin” award-winning trimaran. Their goal: the 2014 Route du Rhum, the famous single-handed transatlantic race from Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre. The objective of this partnership is to promote marine wealth.Approached by the Gamin-Ocean team in late 2013 at the initiative of RIEM and J. Dussol with the aim of developing a partnership, the Olmix management spontaneously said „yes” as they shared the same values, the players were entirely complementary and they had common goals:

A SHARED AMBITION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE BLUE ECONOMY IN BRITTANY

Through this partnership, Olmix, a major player in the algae valorisation sector in Brittany, wishes to share its vision of the environment and the blue economy in Brittany. By signing an agreement with a regular of ocean racing on multihulls, the skipper Pierre Antoine, at the helm of a legendary trimaran with a unique record of achievements, Olmix intends to promote the unexploited marine resources. For 15 years now, our industrial group has been developing natural products based on seaweed concentrates, which are partial substitutes of pharmaceutical and chemical products intended for animal and plant health and nutrition.

After 15 years of R&D dedicated to algae valorisation, Olmix now wants to raise public awareness of the main resources of the Breton sea basin, an exceptional ecosystem by the quality of its water, flora and fauna.

By developing an algae industry in Brittany along with other industrial companies and research organizations, Olmix supports an ambitious project of re-industrialization in Western France, which is vital for its economy.

RIEM SUPPORTS THIS PARTNERSHIP

The RIEM association (Réseau International des Eco-explorateurs de la Mer, meaning International Network of Sea Eco-explorers), which is at the origin of this encounter, joins this partnership. RIEN has supported scientific research and marine exploration across the oceans of the world since 2011.

Pursuing the exploration of the oceans:

Sailor Pierre Antoine, who is a RIEM member, supports and periodically participates in scientific missions by collecting samples on a volunteer basis during coastal or offshore sailing.Today, both scientists and industrialists increasingly need to collect data in order to further research and find new avenues for exploration.

GAMIN, THE SHIP OF THE ENTIRE BRITTANY

With this partnership, the trimaran Gamin, Olmix and RIEM will share with all the Bretons their love for the sea and for its assets, among which the algae, a resource with unparalleled properties.

The 15-meter trimaran Gamin is more than a ship, it is the standard bearer of a blue economy!

Finally, at the request of Hervé and Sébastien Balusson, Olmix and Gamin-Océan Association continued the actions carried out in 2012 and 2013 for the benefit of the „Fondation pour l’Enfance”.
