An important milestone for Olmix Group: on Tuesday, 10th October, the French company officially opened the first additives factory in the province of Bình Dương, Vietnam. On this major occasion, Olmix hosted a Grand Opening Ceremony, attended by more than 300 guests from more than 15 nationalities, including representatives from the French government, CCIFV, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, DBIZA, the Vietnamese Feed Association, the Vietnamese Livestock Association, Taiwan Feed Ass. & Fwusow, Nong Lam University and the Vietnamese Animal Science Institute.
From French Algae Technology to the Asian Market
Under the slogan of the ceremony, Mr Hervé Balusson, Olmix President & CEO, opened the act by reminding the Olmix philosophy and strategy and the brilliant future ahead of the company in Asia, particularly thanks to the new Olmix factory.
“Our success is due to our vision of using marine algae as a new innovative and renewable resource. The opening of this factory is a milestone in the Olmix Group development in Asia. Our goal is clear: a better service with greater flexibility for our Asian customers”, Mr Balusson said.
As one of the key representatives of the event, Mr Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Director of the Department of Livestock Production (Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), shared some thoughts on how the factory is to affect the Vietnamese domestic industry and its local market:
“This event is very important for the Vietnamese feed industry. I am sure we will get benefits from the European experience and, therefore, it will help to promote and boost the development of the domestic industry”, Mr Nguyen Xuan Duong assured.

If the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture showed its support to this major event, so did Mr Bui Minh Tri, from DBIZA, who looks forward to the results that the factory will bring to the province of Bình Dương and the whole country:
“Olmix Asialand has chosen the Bình Dương area to settle down and develop its business and activities. I do wish Olmix to develop and succeed in Vietnam, I am sure it will!”, he said.

The French Government was also involved in the event: Mr Bertand Lortholary, French Ambassador, took the lead to explain how this new opening shows the commitment and contribution between Olmix and the Vietnamese country towards an antibiotic-free production:
“The Vietnamese Government has the hard roadmap to ban on the use of antibiotics in preventive in livestock animal and aquaculture feed. Olmix group’s products, using state of the art technologies are in full compliance with the strategy for healthier livestock development of Vietnamese government” Mr Lortholary explained.
Thus, despite being just opened, the goals of the new Olmix factory are ambitious and aim to expand the Olmix antibiotic-free philosophy thanks to algae and also to get closer to customers and business in Asia and Vietnam. Mr Trinh Quang Thanh, Olmix Asia Director, was clear on this matter:
"The factory will be starting with 5,000 metric tons of feed additives per year (equivalent to 5 million tons of feeds per year) and we could potentially expand to a second phase up to 15,000 tons per year. The technology transferred from Olmix France and his know-how on the algae technology will contribute to increasing the Asian livestock productivity and to reducing the production costs. We are sure that it will help us to get closer to our partners and customers along Asia”.
