Technical Supervisor Marine Josso showed Olmix Group’s revolutionary technology
Olmix Group participated in the 7th Asian Pig Veterinary Society Congress (APVS), which was held in the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila (Manila, the Philippines) on October 26th and 27th. This year, more than 1000 participants took part in this major event for the swine world.
As one of the most innovative companies in the sector, Olmix Group took the opportunity to show its revolutionary technology to improve swine health. Marine Josso, Technical Supervisor of the company, presented two scientific posters.
The first poster was focused on the immunomodulatory activities of sulfated polysaccharide-rich extract of green algae. The results of a trial run in cooperation with INRA (French National Institute of Agriculture) showed that the sulfated polysaccharide-rich extract of green algae has the capacity to stimulate, in vitro, the expression of cytokines involved in the immune response. This suggests that this extract could be used as a new prophylactic strategy to stimulate the immune response of animals and reduce the use of antibiotics in farms.
The second poster highlighted the efficacy of the product Ecopiglet to reduce the use of medication for piglets in maternity. Under the conditions of this study run in Northern Vietnam, Ecopiglet improved growth performance of piglets and decreased diarrhoea incidence as well as the use of antibiotic (enrofloxacin) for curative purposes. Therefore, its use in lactation should be considered as a solution to decrease the use of antibiotics while improving piglet’s level of performance.
